het veld Talks with Matthew & Kyrill
Share
A conversation between Matthew and Kyrill, the creative forces behind het veld, discussing their journey, inspiration and what’s next.
Team or Solo player?
K: Team player
M: Team player
What inspired our journey?
M: I started DJing when I was about 12, all because of GTA IV. There was this DLC about nightclubs, and I completely fell in love with house music after that. Not long after, I was playing at school parties in high school.
K: As a manager. For me, it started when a friend who was a content creator needed help with the business side of things. I jumped in to help out. I used to do graphic design back then, so it was something totally new for me.
How did we meet?
K: My first memory of Matthew was seeing him DJ for a mutual friend who was the support act of De Jeugd in 2018. In 2019 we crossed paths again when he was DJing for that same friend at SMIB TNO Fest. We didn’t really stay in touch after that.
M: After Covid, around 2021, we bumped into each other again at a club where I was part of the organisation, and from then on, we just kept bumping into each other.
K: After a period of time and friendship I became Matthew’s manager.
What sparked us to create het veld?
K: Matthew and I always wanted to organise parties ourselves. For both of us, het veld really represents the place where the first connections happened, whether it was on the playground or on the field. Now we’re translating that same energy into the club.
M: Kyrill pitched me the idea of het veld, and I instantly saw the vision. It took me right back to those early memories. Turning that idea into a club night and concept really got me hyped.
The fields that shaped us
M: I was always into football, and did a bit of skateboarding on the side. Those 2 cultures influenced me a lot.
K: Tennis! I played until I was sixteen, then it turned into a boxing ring for me. Funny story: I used to play tennis in indoor football shoes.
When it comes to organising events, what makes a club night truly successful?
K: It starts with the community. Everyone plays a part; from the door host and bar staff to the crowd itself. When the vibe is open and welcoming, people connect naturally. That’s what het veld stands for: bringing different people and cultures together.
M: For me, it’s all about creating space for connection. Music is the bridge that brings people from different backgrounds together. With het veld, we want to build a community that grows both on and off the dance floor.
What is your position on the field?
M: Right winger at heart, quick and always moving forward.
K: As a net player I position myself strategically and strike fast.
With 2025 coming to an end, what are our top three achievements?
M: Playing Tomorrowland and Lowlands, doing my first all-nighter at Skatecafe, and moving out of my parents’ house.
K: Hosting het veld at Skatecafe, working with my friends, and falling in love.
What’s next for het veld?
K: More friends, more parties, bigger community.
M: Going global.
